Your Portugal journey. A day to look forward to.

Leave room for the day you are most excited about

Perhaps you have already chosen your hotels. Perhaps you are still collecting places you would love to see. Somewhere among the journeys and reservations, there is a day you can already imagine: a palace that draws you in, a Portuguese lunch, or the first view of the Atlantic with your favourite person beside you.

You can organise your own Portugal trip and reserve a private guided day for the place you most want to discover. Good Portugal tour planning gives that experience a comfortable place in the journey, with enough time to enjoy it.

This guide helps you fit a private day around your stays and travel dates. For choosing regions and shaping the wider holiday, our Portugal trip planning guide covers the broader decisions.

Start with the experience you want to bring home

A guided day deserves a reason to be in your trip. You might want someone to help you understand Portuguese history, introduce local flavours or connect places you would find awkward to arrange on your own.

Think about what you enjoy together. A couple drawn to architecture may want to give one palace real attention. Friends who love food may look forward to the conversation around a lunch table. A family may value a guide who gets to know their interests and helps the day find a comfortable rhythm.

Our private experiences bring that conversation into the planning. The electric tuk tuk is part of the journey between places; your day also includes stepping out, exploring, asking questions and enjoying the company you came with.

Choose the experience first, then give it a date. If you are still finding the place that interests you most, our Portugal destination guide can help you make a shortlist.

Find a comfortable place in your travel calendar

Look at the days around the tour as well as the tour itself. Arrival times, hotel moves and onward journeys influence how much freedom you will have to enjoy the experience.

For example, a Lisbon stay could include time to settle in, a day discovering the city, a private Sintra day and a separate onward travel day. Adapt the sequence to the length of your stay and the journeys you have booked.

Use the actual times on your travel reservations. For rail journeys, check CP’s official website before building the rest of the day around a connection.

Let the Sintra day work as a whole

Once you have a suitable date, bring the visits and the pleasures between them into the same conversation. A palace, lunch and a chosen coastal stop each need their own place in the day.

If Pena is the reason you are coming, tell us what draws you there. Our guided accompaniment is on the terraces; visiting the interior rooms is a separate part of the visit, with the appropriate ticket and entry arrangements. The official Pena information explains the current visit options.

If food, wine and the coast are equally appealing, give them time too. A personal itinerary becomes more enjoyable when the experiences you care about have room to unfold. Our Sintra day trip guide from Lisbon explores the choices within that day.

You can enjoy a day that connects culture with the landscape, with photographs of your own people along the way. The route and stops are agreed around your interests, the available time and visitor arrangements.

Choose how much you would like arranged

The right format depends partly on how you want to arrive and how much of the day you would like one team to coordinate. All our tours are private, reserved for you and the companions on your booking.

All-Inclusive

Your private guide, tour transport, pickup and return for guests in Lisbon or Cascais, and tickets for the monument visits agreed in your itinerary.

Choose four or eight hours, including transfers. A traditional Portuguese lunch is included with the Full-Day. Colares tasting is included when selected as an activity in the agreed itinerary; the Half-Day does not include lunch.

Personalized

Start in Sintra, with your own guide, transport during the tour and photographs from your day.

The four-hour Half-Day and eight-hour Full-Day leave monument tickets, meals, tastings and optional transfers to be paid separately.

Talk through the format before adding separate reservations around it. For All-Inclusive, the team coordinates the tickets for the agreed visits. For Personalized, you buy monument tickets separately, with help on the options and timing. If you already have tickets, share them before the route is settled.

Our half-day or full-day guide helps you choose the time; the private tour cost guide explains what to compare in the group total.

Connect the experience with where you stay

A hotel change can sometimes become part of a well-planned private day. If you are moving between Lisbon and Cascais, send both addresses and the timing you have in mind so we can discuss a route that fits.

With our All-Inclusive, we can collect you with your luggage, keep the bags with our team during the tour and leave you with them at your hotel afterwards. Share the bag count and any bulky items while arranging the day. Our Sintra luggage guide explains how this works.

We also offer private experiences in Lisbon and Porto. Ask about the arrangements for the city you are visiting; the Sintra durations and inclusions described above apply to the Sintra formats.

Bring your plans, and a little curiosity

You do not need to arrive with a finished route. Your dates, the people coming, where you are staying and one or two things you would love to experience are a useful starting point.

Share essential walking, seating or dietary needs before booking, along with any fixed return requirement. We can help you understand which private format suits those plans. Detailed itinerary planning follows the deposit.

For comparing what different providers offer, use our guide to choosing a private sightseeing tour. Then you can look forward to the part that matters: discovering a place together.

Questions about planning a private day in Portugal

Can I organise my own Portugal trip and book just one private tour?

Yes. You can arrange your wider journey independently and reserve a private day for a place you want to explore with a guide. Choose the experience and date around your hotel stays, travel reservations and interests.

Should I book a Sintra tour before buying monument tickets?

Discuss the format first. Our All-Inclusive includes tickets for the monument visits agreed in your itinerary. On Personalized tours, monument tickets are bought separately, with help on the options and timing. If you already have tickets, share them before agreeing the route.

Is an All-Inclusive tour a complete Portugal holiday package?

Here, All-Inclusive describes a private four- or eight-hour Sintra experience with the stated day-tour inclusions. It does not include flights, accommodation or the rest of your Portugal holiday. Pickup and return are for guests in Lisbon or Cascais, with arrangements agreed in advance.

Can a private tour fit between hotel stays in Lisbon and Cascais?

Discuss both addresses and your timing before booking. For an agreed All-Inclusive day with pickup and return in Lisbon or Cascais, we can collect you with your luggage, keep the bags with our team during the tour and leave you with them at your hotel afterwards. Share your bag count and any bulky items so the arrangements can be confirmed.

Can we take a private tour on the day we fly home?

Share the flight details, starting point and required finish before reserving. The team needs to assess the tour and onward journey together. A separate free day usually gives more room to enjoy Sintra; any airport transfer needs to be expressly agreed for your booking.

Will other travellers join our Yes, You Deserve tour?

No. Our tours are private and reserved for you and the companions on your booking. We confirm the vehicles and guiding arrangements for your exact party; more than one vehicle may be used for a larger private party.
